TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader connectors and sensors, has released a new generation of server processor connectors and sockets to support high performance computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced applications. Now available for sampling, the new products are the LGA 4677 processor sockets, DDR5 DIMM sockets and PCIe generation 5 CEM connectors.

LGA 4677 Processor Socket

TE’s new server processor LGA 4677 socket provides more connections and higher transfer speeds between the main board and CPU. Designed for the connectivity requirements of new-generation processors, the LGA 4677 socket supports bandwidth-intensive operations and more memory channels to significantly expand server input/output capabilities. The LGA 4677 socket delivers an aggregate link bandwidth of 128 gigabits per second (Gbps) in x16 configuration, and, with DDR5 8-channel support, the LGA 4677 socket provides higher performance and lower overall power consumption for more cost savings. The socket’s higher number of memory channels enables speed-intensive applications such as AI and machine learning. The LGA 4677 processor socket is adaptable for 8-channel DDR5 and PCIe generation 5 technologies, enabling the latest server architectures for data centers and AI applications.

DDR5 DIMM Memory Sockets

TE’s DDR5 DIMM memory sockets are the next generation of memory connectivity hardware designed for high-performance computing and server platforms. With the ability to support up to 6.4 gigatransfers per second (GT/s), DDR5 DIMM sockets helps higher performance while maintaining TE’s traditional quality and robustness. The DDR5 DIMM sockets offer transfer rates up to 6400 Megabits per second (Mbps), feature narrow latch types and space-saving features to enable increased airflow between components, have a stronger latch tower and available hooking options for increased reliability, and have improved co-planarity with an easy-to-install design that helps prevent difficult soldering re-work.

PCIe Generation 5 CEM Connectors

To support the latest processors for better system application scaling and higher bandwidth, TE’s new PCIe Gen 5 CEM connectors offer a data rate roadmap that can reach up to 32 GT/s per differential signal pair. It helps support all generations of PCI Express signaling with backward compatibility to PCIe Gen 4/3/2/1 products in interface and footprint.

“A new generation of processors is emerging, and our LGA 4677 socket, DDR5 DIMM sockets and PCIe Gen 5 CEM connectors enable our customers to transfer new levels of computing performance to motherboards and devices they control,” said Allen Liang, senior manager, product management, at TE. “With this new group of connectors and sockets, TE confirms its long-standing commitment to staying at the forefront of performance and reliability with connectivity solutions.”
