HERMOSILLO, Mexico

July 20, 2022

TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectivity and sensors, has opened a new, larger production facility in Hermosillo, Mexico, to support its Data and Devices business unit.

The increased capacity of this site, which replaces a smaller Hermosillo facility established in 1996, will support TE’s IoT portfolio of products, including cables and connectors for high-speed communications. The new location will allow TE to develop additional capabilities like antenna assembly and bulk cable manufacturing.

The 230,000-square-foot site will employ more than 1,750 people and sits adjacent to TE’s global logistics and distribution center, which will support the data and devices facility in addition to the four other TE production facilities in Hermosillo.

“As IoT expands in the market and demand for high-speed data and connectivity continues to increase, we will invest in our business to ensure we have the capacity to meet the demand of our customers,” said Sudhakar Sabada, senior vice president and general manager for TE’s global Data and Devices business. “This new facility is a critical component of our global production and logistics footprint and demonstrates the importance of Hermosillo, the State of Sonora and TE as global players in the future of high-speed connectivity.”

Sabada, along with business unit leaders and site director Juan Carlos Hernandez, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new building July 14. They were joined by Governor of Sonora Alfonso Durazo, Sonora Ministry of Economy Secretary Armando Villa Orduño, Sonora Ministry of Labor Secretary Olga Grijalva, Consul General of United States Consulate Ken Roy and Hermosillo Mayor Antonio Astiazaran. Leadership from TE’s Communications Segment and Data and Devices business unit were also in attendance.
