The new building will create jobs and increase production of products to help progress grid reliability and the global trend toward renewable energy sources

Juárez, Mexico

TE Connectivity, a global industrial technology leader, has opened a second building at its energy industry production facility in Juárez, Mexico. The new structure nearly doubles TE’s capacity to make power grid connectors and cable accessories, as well as solar products for the growing renewable energy market in the Americas. The products made at this plant enable a more sustainable and reliable power grid.

The 103,000-square-foot (9,569-square-meter) expansion brings the total square footage of the facility to 230,000 square feet (21,368 square meters) and is expected to create more than 200 jobs over the next few years as demand for renewable energy products continues to increase.

“As consumers look for more sustainable energy sources, demand is rapidly increasing for solar products globally, and growth in North America is particularly strong,” said Bart Otten, senior vice president and general manager for TE’s global Energy business. “We are excited to open this new building and reinforce the importance of Juárez and TE as driving forces behind the renewables trend.”

Otten, along with TE executives, including Vice President and General Manager of Energy Americas Bijal Thakkar and Vice President of Energy Global Operations Jürgen Hauck, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new building on Monday, June 27. They were joined by Juarez Mayor Cruz Perez Cuellar and INDEX President Fabiola Luna. Fernando Alba, undersecretary of economy for the State of Chihuahua, was also in attendance.

“The expansion is exciting because it gives us additional capacity to make our products in the region for the region,” said Thakkar. “By bringing more manufacturing capability closer to our customers in the Americas, we can achieve and sustain the highest levels of service for them.”

"This is good news for the City of Juárez and the State of Chihuahua,” said Alba. “With direct, as well as indirect employment opportunities generated in other productive sectors, this expansion can have a positive impact on economic development in the local community and the surrounding region.”
