New Ruggedized IP20 Modular Plugs

HARRISBURG, Pa. - May 9, 2008 - A new family of field-installable modular plugs from Tyco Electronics offer a ruggedized design for use in Industrial Ethernet in factory automation, industrial communication, process control, and material handling applications. The Industrial Ethernet IP20 Field Installable RJ-45 Plug features a metallic locking tab and rigid plastic case that make the new plugs more rugged and less prone to failure than plugs with more easily broken plastic tabs. The plugs use insulation-displacement contacts to allow tool-less termination of either solid or stranded conductors for fast, simple installation in the field. The shielded connectors offer IP20 sealing and will mate with standard modular shielded or unshielded modular jacks.
