Jorge Cervantes serves as President of the Global Industrial & Commercial (GIC) business unit of Tyco Electronics, one of the world’s largest providers of engineered electronic components, network solutions, undersea telecommunication systems and wireless systems. With fiscal 2007 sales of US$13.0 billion, Tyco Electronics has approximately 92,000 employees in approximately 50 countries.
GIC is part of Tyco Electronics’ Electronic Components segment and is one of the world’s largest suppliers of components and value-added assemblies for the industrial machinery and equipment, medical, household appliances, commercial and building equipment and instrumentation industries. Mr. Cervantes is responsible for all aspects of the global, broad-based business unit including sales, marketing, development and operations. Additionally, Mr. Cervantes is responsible for Tyco Electronics’ global Distribution network. In this role, he sets the direction and strategy for the channel globally, and works with the various business units utilizing Distribution to manage overall performance. Since joining the company in 1992 as part of AMP, Mr. Cervantes has served in various financial and operational positions in the U.S. and Mexico. His prior assignment was Vice President and Controller, Global Industrial, Commercial & Energy Division. Mr. Cervantes holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Queretaro, Queretaro, Mexico, and a master’s degree in Financial Accounting from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
