Minoru (Mooch) Okamoto Okamoto serves as Senior Advisor to the CEO at Tyco Electronics, one of the world’s largest providers of engineered electronic components, network solutions, undersea telecommunication systems and specialty products. With fiscal 2009 sales of US$10.3 billion, Tyco Electronics has approximately 75,000 employees in 50 countries.
In addition to his role as Advisor to the CEO, Mr. Okamoto serves as Chairman, TE Japan GK, providing guidance and direction on governance issues as well as driving the growth of TE business in Japan. With 34 years of Tyco Electronics and prior AMP experience, Mr. Okamoto served most recently as President, Communications & Industrial Solutions (CIS). During his tenure at Tyco Electronics and AMP he has held various positions including Senior Vice President of Communications, Computer & Consumer Electronics (CC&CE); Vice President of Asia and Global Computer; Divisional Vice President and Area Director of Asia/Pacific North (Japan & Korea); General Manager of AMP Japan; Director of Asia/Pacific Marketing and General Manager of AMP Taiwan. Mr. Okamoto is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce, Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) and JEITA (Japan Electronics & Information Technology Industries Association) in Japan.
