Minoru (Mooch) Okamoto serves as President of the Communications & Industrial Solutions (CIS) business unit of Tyco Electronics, one of the world’s largest providers of engineered electronic components, network solutions, undersea telecommunication systems and specialty products. With fiscal 2008 sales of US$14.4 billion, Tyco Electronics has approximately 75,000 employees in 50 countries.
CIS is part of Tyco Electronics’ Electronic Components segment and is one of the world’s largest suppliers of components and value-added assemblies for a wide range of industries such as computer, communications, industrial machinery and equipment, and commercial building and equipment. Mr. Okamoto is responsible for all aspects of sales, development and operations for these businesses worldwide. With 32 years of Tyco Electronics and prior AMP experience, Mr. Okamoto has held a wide variety of positions in sales, marketing, operations and general management. These include Vice President of Asia and Global Computer & Consumer Electronics, Divisional Vice President and Area Director of Asia/Pacific North (Japan & Korea), General Manager of AMP Japan, Director of Asia/Pacific Marketing and General Manager of AMP Taiwan. Mr. Okamoto is a member of the American Chamber of Commerce, Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives), JEITA (Japan Electronics & Information Technology Industries Association) in Japan, and a Director of the Board, iNEMI (International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative, Inc.) in the U.S. Mr. Okamoto holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University, California, U.S. About Tyco Electronics |
