Joan Wainwright is Senior Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs at Tyco Electronics, one of the world’s largest providers of electronic components, network solutions, wireless systems and undersea telecommunication systems. With fiscal 2007 sales of US$13.0 billion, Tyco Electronics has approximately 92,000 employees in approximately 50 countries.
As the head of Communications and Public Affairs, Ms. Wainwright leads the external and internal communications, corporate branding and reputation, government relations and philanthropic programs for the company. Ms. Wainwright joined Tyco Electronics in June 2006 from Merck & Co., Inc., where she most recently served as Vice President, Public Affairs. Prior to that, she served in the Clinton Administration as Deputy Commissioner of Communications for the U.S. Social Security Administration. Ms. Wainwright has worked in the communications and public relations departments at the University Health System of New Jersey, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Delaware and Villanova University.
