NEW ETHERNET CABLE SUITS AEROSPACE APPLICATIONS

HARRISBURG, Pa. - July 13, 2006 - Tyco Electronics today introduced RAYCHEM brand QUADLITE cable. QUADLITE cable is a quadaxial cable suitable for 10 and 100BaseT Ethernet networking. The primary applications for this cable are in aerospace and include in-flight entertainment (IFE) as well as other aircraft data networks (ADN). IFE functions enabled by quadraxial cables include in-flight movies, music and other entertainment. As for ADN applications, QUADLITE cable is capable of linking avionics, navigation, air traffic control (ATC) and audio (voice over IP) systems.

QUADLITE cable could also be applied to any interconnect which specifies a 100 ohm, two pair geometry with electrical requirements similar to IEEE 802.3/2000. This cable has a smaller, more symmetric cross section compared to twinax cable (with two twisted pairs). QUADLITE cable is designed to terminate to size 8 quadraxial contacts.

QUADLITE cable is available in 150 degree C and 200 degree C versions.
