Tyco Electronics Power Systems, Inc. today announced a new addition to its AUSTIN LYNX family – AUSTIN MEGALYNX point-of-load (POL) DC/DC converters. Designed to meet the power needs of the latest generation of FPGAs (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays) and ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits), the AUSTIN MEGALYNX series extends the output current range of the AUSTIN SUPERLYNX up to 30Amps. With an optional load share version, a load current of up to 150 Amps can be delivered by paralleled multiple modules.
The AUSTIN MEGALYNX series includes two versions. The ATS version is designed to produce a high current output with low output ripple voltage. It supports an input voltage range of 6-14 Vdc, with a programmable output voltage range of 0.8-5.5Vdc using an external resistor. The ATH version supports an input voltage range of 4.5-5.5Vdc, with a 0.8-3.3Vdc output voltage range. The two versions can reach efficiencies of 92.5 percent and 95 percent at nominal input voltage conditions and fully rated output current. Both versions support the EZ-SEQUENCE feature that was introduced in the AUSTIN LYNX II series. The feature helps designers comply with the tracking and ratio-metric sequencing requirements of the latest FPGAs and ASICs.

Therefore, it gives designers more options in selecting the right module with DOSA-compliant (Distributed-Power Open Standards Alliance) pin-outs."
The AUSTIN MEGALYNX converter is offered in SIP packaging and measures 2.00in x 0.50in x 0.55in (50.80 mm x 12.70 mm x 14.0 mm). This robust construction enables the converter to operate under a temperature range of -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C), while enduring industry standard handling, cleaning and soldering processes.
