HARRISBURG, Pa - April 18, 2006 - Tyco Electronics recently developed a normally open half-rocker switch for use in HVAC furnace door applications. Known in the industry as a "tamper switch" the new product is intended for use in furnaces, air cleaners, air conditioners and power control panels. The new high power switch is rated for up to 21 A @ 125-250VAC or 3/4hp rated. In typical applications, the switch is used to deactivate or de-energize power to the furnace or machinery when access panels or covers are removed for maintenance or repair.
The switch is packaged in a small yet robust nylon 6/6 UL 94V-2 housing that incorporates .250 inch quick connect tabs for convenient connection to system wiring. The switch mechanism is rated for 6,000 cycles and features silver-tin oxide contacts. Actuation force for the switch is rated at 425g with a .345 inch actuator travel range. This product is UL approved and RoHS compliant.
