Tyco Electronics offers surface mount automotive connectors that eliminate the need for selective solder operations. Tyco Electronics CAR SMT connectors incorporate a Coplanar Alignment Rib (CAR) that delivers best-in-class terminal position control for the demanding automotive market. The CAR SMT connectors require no additional fasteners to attach these connectors to the PCB while preserving space and reducing applied costs.

The Tyco Electronics CAR SMT connectors are designed for vertical or horizontal PCB orientation and available in a range of position sizes from 4 to 52 circuits. The terminal position (coplanar location) is controlled within 0.13mm and can be applied with lower amounts of solder paste than other SMT automotive connectors. The J-shaped terminal leads provide a large solder area and are compliant to thermal and mechanical stresses, minimizing solder joint stress. The CAR SMT connectors include an integral SMT solder-clip for robust PCB attachment.
