HARRISBURG, Pa. - January 7, 2008 - Tyco Electronics has added a 5640-square-foot Class 8 clean room for particulate-free molding of plastic parts in Greensboro, NC. The cleanroom environment will allow manufacture of medical-grade parts, such as surgical suite disposables, invasive devices, surgical filter housings, critical care components, and pharmaceutical dose meters and delivery systems. The new cleanroom extends the company's already extensive capabilities in high-precision molding.
The cleanroom features closed-loop temperature and humidity control to shorten cycle times and maintain the precise tolerances required for medical components. Sterile molding temperatures also help prevent
parts from becoming contaminated by auxiliary equipment.
The cleanroom meets ISO 14644-1 Class 8 requirements, which specifies the room contain no more than
29,300 5-μm particles per cubic meter, and satisfies the European Union's Medical Devices Directive.
Material handling and lab areas are attached to the cleanroom to maintain a contamination-free
environment.
