The growing demand for alternative energy solutions is offering new opportunities for innovators in power conversion systems. Wind turbines are a prime example of a complete power conversion system that combines adjustable speed drives, rectifiers, inverters and intricate control systems.

About the Presenter

Jon Catchpole

Jon Catchpole is the global principal engineer for the passive components group at Tyco Electronics. He has over 10 years of experience within the passive electronics industry and holds several patents in the field. He has spent his whole career working on electrical products and applications, and also has a background working with high voltage.

He has developed many new products for industries such as: transmission and distribution, electronic drives, marine, rail and the alternative energy sector. Jon holds a mechanical and manufacturing engineering degree from University of Brighton, UK and is currently based in Swindon, UK.
