Lan Electronics - Media Converters
Two ranges of Ethernet fibre media converters
are available:
- 10/100Mbit/s and Gigabit Ethernet Auto-ranging Unmanaged
- Fully Managed 10/100 and Gigabit Auto-ranging Rack-mount
Both multimode and singlemode optical fibre links are supported using ST, SC and MT-RJ connectors. The high quality converters are very simple to install with auto-negotiation of speed and auto-MDI/MDI-X detection.
A rack-mount 19" chassis system is available for high density
applications when using unmanaged converters, managed converters are
rack mounted.

The media converters can be either standalone or mounted in a 19" rack-mount chassis unit. The chassis can support up to 10 media converters and is supplied with 1 AC power unit but can be fitted with a second power unit for dual-redundant operation. These power units can be hot-swapped from the front panel without any impact on the converters
It is important to remember that WDM converters must be installed in pairs.
A 1550nm converter must be connected to a 1310nm converter over a single fibre core.

The managed media converters are plug in cards that are located in a 16 slot chassis unit. The chassis supports 16 converters and is shipped with a management card and an 1 AC power unit but a second AC unit or alternatively a 48v DC unit can be fitted for dual redundant operation. These power units can be hot-swapped from the rear of the chassis without any impact on the converters
It is important to remember that WDM converters must be installed in pairs.
A 1550nm converter must be connected to a 1310nm converter over a single fibre core.
