Lan Electronics - Switches

A wide range of high performance, cost-effective switches are available:
  • 5 Port Compact Switch
  • 8 Port Compact
  • 8 Port Smart Switch with fibre uplink
  • 8 Port SNMP Managed Switch with fibre uplink
  • 16 Port Compact Switch
  • 16 Port Smart Switch II with optional uplink
  • 24 Port Compact Switch
  • 24 Port Smart Switch II with optional uplink
  • 24 Port Stackable Managed Switch with optional uplink

These switches are ideal for local workgroups, small offices and SOHO applications. Some switches have either a fixed or optional fibre uplink port to enable high speed connections to backbones, servers and NIC cards. With an emphasis on high quality, competitive cost and ease of use, these Ethernet switches are very simple to install and use.

The 16 and 24 port Smart switch II have optional 100Base-FX fibre uplinks that support a range of fibre types including multimode and singlemode with ST or SC connectors. Dual uplinks can also be provided with support for Gigabit SX, LX, and Copper.

The 8 SNMP managed switch provides a  high level layer 2 switching functions such as QOS and  tagged VLANs. This switch can be fully managed by either local terminal port, web browser or SNMP.

The new 24 Port Stackable Managed switch has all the optional uplink benefits as the Smart Switch II,  with the added management and switch functions such as IP Stacking, SNMP, and tagged VLANs.

Selecting The Switch

  1. Identify the number of Ethernet ports needed and ensure that some spare ports are reserved for expansion.
  2. If a fibre link is needed, identify if the fibre type is to use single or multi-mode fibres.
  3. If using multimode fibres, then identify the type of optical connector required (SC, ST, MT-RJ).
  4. Identify the country or region needed and use the table to select the correct power supply cord or adapter.

Use the table to the left to identify the required switch and the optional plug-in uplink module.

Each Ethernet switch is supplied with:

  1. AC Mains cable/adapter
  2. User Manual
  3. Rackmount Kit (16 and 24 Port Smart Switch II and the 24 Port Stackable Managed Switch)
  4. Adhesive rubber feet.

Selecting The Correct Power Cord
Country/Region Value of -x
USA, Canada and parts of South-East Asia 1
Europe excluding Italy, Denmark and Switzerland 2
 Switzerland 3
 Italy 4
 Denmark 5
 Australia and New Zealand 6
UK, Singapore and Hong Kong 7
 India 8

Finally, using the table to the left, identify the required country/region and then substitute the value of X as the suffix of the order code.

For example, the part number of an 8 port  10/100Mbit/s Ethernet Smart switch with an MT-RJ fibre connector for use in Italy is:

0-1591042-4

For more details of the power cords see the Power Cord page.
