TE Connectivity’s (TE) portfolio of ruggedized fiber optic products and packaging solutions brings the benefits of optical technology to challenging harsh environment applications. Rugged Fiber Optics enable data delivery at high speed and over long distance to a level not possible with traditional copper cable in managing 40G and 100G capacity communication protocols with simultaneous EMI immunity (Electromagnetic interference). TE’s ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) to ASIC end-to-end solutions include a comprehensive range of fiber optic interconnects now enhanced with the recent acquisition of Advanced Fiber Products (AFP), a U.K. based developer and manufacturer of advanced fiber optical and optoelectronic products for oil and gas, industrial, military and other markets.
PHYSICAL CONTACT TERMINI
TE has a long heritage of rugged termini designs for Physical contact from the early versions of 2.5 mm ferrules within the MC3, MC4, and then 1.25mm ferrules in the MC5 and now the newly released MC801 with industry standard ARINC 801 termini. In addition to the individual termini TE’s MC6 circular and VITA 66.1 and .4 board level connectors with MT termini as well as new emerging connector technology to broaden the product selection for higher density and higher bandwidth fiber interfaces.

EXPANDED BEAM TERMINI
TE’s rugged lens protected interfaces are employed globally in Geophysical, In Flight application, digital broadcast/cinema, Industrial production environments, tactical communications, Mil and Comm Air, Sensor and Radar implementation assure that when the fiber optic path must have excellent reliability TE’s Lens science has many decades of successful implementation without issue or failure. This family of products has recently been expanded with our new EB16 termini that employ a lens on each termini with a detachable lens units for easy service and repair.
